Solid Silver Hallmarked Large Vintage Paper Knife, Italian 1970s in very good condition. The Handle is decorated elaborately, with swirling, naturalistic decoration. Very impressive large silver letter opener with space for engraving on blade. Size: L. 27cm. Silver Marks R and 925. Hallmark Expalnation This Italian-made paper knife is hallmarked 'R925': the European hallmark for silver. The R stands for 'rivestito', Italian for 'covered'. The '925' means that the Silver used contains at least 925 parts pure silver to each 1000 parts. European '925 silver' is the same quality of silver as used in the UK which is referred to as 'sterling silver'.
