Superb quality rare silver spoon made to commemorate the tricentenary of the assassination of the French king Henri IV in 1610. It is very finely made in the early Jacobean style. The silversmith was Berthold Muller who worked in Nuremburg, Germany, in the late 19th and early 20th centuries. Much of his finest work was exported to England, hence the double set of hallmarks. Dutch lion hall mark and London import mark. The spoon has a cast head of Henri IV with a highly ornate shank and bowl with repousse decoration of scrolls, flowers and fruit.Length 8 inches weight 2.375 ounces
